Akupara Games Dev Log (September)

September was filled with release date announcements, trailers, and even more huge game news! We launched Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles to consoles, joined the Six One Indie showcase with four titles each with their own announcements, and that is only the beginning of what was shared this month! Be sure to check out your favorite games below or read all of them because I worked hard on them.

Before I get started on the dev log, I do want to mention that we partnered up with Makeshift to design a plushie of our company pet and mascot Chronos!

Side effects for owning this plushie are heads of lettuce going missing, the sudden feeling of turning up the thermostat 5 degrees, taking longer to move around the house, and more. We need 200 preorders for these Chronos plushies to be manufactured so be sure to pick loveable plushies up!

Preorder here!

  2. Cryptmaster
  3. Cabernet
  4. Sorry We’re Closed
  5. Rain World: The Watcher
  6. Airframe Ultra

Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles | Console Launch and Daily Run Update

The six oracles have expanded their goal to purify the corruption in the console star systems. Astrea launched on Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation!  Choose the dice to join your deck and purify the corruption from the star system. Will you pick the safe dice which has more consistency but are weaker or pick the risky dice with powerful effects but can have massive downsides if the wrong face is shown?

Check out Astrea on Playstation, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox!

The PC players also didn’t get left out as Astrea got an update which includes Daily Runs! Don’t worry though console players as this update came with the console launch! In Daily Runs, every day comes with a new seeded challenge with random oracle, random virtues, random starting dice, and random modifiers. Buddy dives deeper in the Daily Runs in the video below where he talks about his thought process while playing.

Leading up to the console launch of Astrea on console we hosted Astrea Art Week where different artists would draw different prompts from the game for each day of the week. I want to highlight one art piece from each prompt!

On Monday the prompt was Uncaged Anomaly which is one of the bosses you can face in the third zone! This art piece is by .gmm!

Tuesday was one of the more open ended prompts as it could be perceived in many different ways. The prompt was purify which was one of main ways you fight corruption in game. Suiroku decided to draw one of the orcales Austra for Purify!

With Wednesday’s prompt we go back to bosses but this time they are one of the bosses in the first zone you can face! Smouldering Beast is the turtle-like creature that may have eaten too many corrupted lettuce and got corrupted themselves. This wonderful art was drawn by xmitsukix!

Thursday is the complete opposite of Tuesday’s prompt. Thursday was corruption which is what the oracles will stop spreading across the stars using purification. This art piece by toomanyferrets does an amazing job at showing what a corrupted Sothis would look like!

And last but not least, the final prompt may be the most powerful tool in most decks. The epic dice was Friday’s prompt. Shinji16 designed these three modular origami truncated cubes in the style of epic dice!

If you want to see more art from the community for Astrea Art Week, I would recommend joining the Astrea Discord!

The Cryptmaster is back and is expanding their crypts to consoles to capture more souls. Cryptmaster will be releasing to Xbox and Playstation on October 3rd!

With an overwhelming positive (96%) rating on Steam, souls have been enjoying the Cryptmaster’s riddles and battles against the locals in the deep and dark crypts.  Follow the journey of the four recently risen from the dead heroes as they are guided by the proud, yet possibly maniacal Cryptmaster to the surface through swamps infested with slimes, castles overran by toadmen, friendly rats building infrastructure in the dungeon, and more.

Rain World: The Watcher | Release Date: March 28th

The Rain World community was all over the Six One Indie Showcase when they heard that there was going to be news in the showcase. I hosted a watch party in the Rain World Discord which had over 500 people watching. Some people from the community was in the Youtube chat saying “Wawa” which the community has said is what a slugcat sounds like.

The community went crazy when we announced the release date for the upcoming DLC Rain World: The Watcher is March 28th.
