Junior Game Lawyer (Legal Assistant)

Location: Remote (US-based) | Part-Time Opportunity

Akupara Games is a video game publisher that works with developers and partners worldwide. We collaborate with an established law firm that will continue to handle major and complex contracts. However, we are looking for a Junior Game Lawyer (Legal Assistant) to serve as an internal resource, handling low-level contracts, contract coordination with our law firm, maintaining legal templates, and assisting with legal tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and maintain standard agreements (e.g., NDAs, contractor agreements, licensing agreements).
  • Act as a liaison between Akupara Games and our external law firm for contract escalations and legal inquiries.
  • Maintain and update legal templates to reflect current business needs and industry best practices.
  • Provide basic legal research and guidance on common industry matters such as IP rights, publishing terms, compliance, and contract obligations.
  • Assist with corporate compliance, documentation, and internal policy updates.
  • Review and track contract deadlines, renewals, and deliverables to ensure smooth execution.
  • Support cross-functional teams by explaining legal concepts and risks in an accessible way.

Qualifications

  • 0-2 years of legal experience (internship or prior work in entertainment, media, or gaming law is a plus).
  • Bachelor’s degree in legal studies, business law, or a related field; paralegal certification or JD preferred but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for tracking contracts and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey legal concepts to non-legal teams.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively in a fast-paced environment.
  • An interest in video games is heavily weighted.

To apply to this position, please submit a resume, and website/portfolio (if applicable) to david@akuparagames.com with the subject line: Junior Game Lawyer.
